Open, one-level, project, competition for the selection of professionally most suitable solution for: swimming pool complex Vevče

The principal, the City of Ljubljana, is interested in a comprehensive renovation of the area of the former swimming pool complex Vevče. The City of Ljubljana recently became the owner of this area, and wishes to revitalise it by constructing a new swimming pool complex. By holding an open, single-stage design contest, the principal, the City of Ljubljana, in collaboration with the Chamber of Architecture in Spatial Planning of Slovenia, aims to:
• obtain the best technical urban and architectural solution for the development of the new summer and winter swimming pool complex Vevče;
• obtain informative proposals for developing the wider area of the design contest – development of banks of the Ljubljanica as sports and recreational areas;
• select the architect for the design documents.
The purpose of this design contest task is to present the guidelines for developing a design solution and design documents for the construction of a new swimming pool complex with associated facilities and arrangements. When preparing the design solution and subsequent construction projects, it is necessary to consider the Municipal Spatial Plan requirements and limitations due to the riparian area of the Ljubljanica.

Purpose of the competition

The purpose of the competition is to obtain:
- the most suitable architectural solution for the new building of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,
- the most suitable solution for the external arrangements of the wider competition area
- Project documentation maker or makers

The subject of the competition is the architectural design of the building of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in the area marked EUP RD 358, within the framework of the University Center Brdo (OPPN 65). The area under consideration is located in the western part of the city of Ljubljana, at the northern foot of Rožnik hill, which ends on the west side of the Trail of Remembrance and Comradeship (PST). The building of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is placed in a narrower area determined on the basis of a preliminary urban competition for the building of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Pharmacy. The subject of the competition is also the external arrangement of the wider competition area of the two faculties, which in certain parts exceeds the ownership boundaries.

University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FS) and Faculty of Pharmacy (FFA) intend to complete the construction in the area of the new University center Brdo, where the Biotechnical Faculty (BF), the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (FKKT) and the Faculty of Computer and Information Science (FRI) are already located.

The new faculty building should provide pedagogues and students with quality working conditions for study and research, cutting-edge, modern and technically faultless laboratory and other related facilities, and, in general, a stimulating university environment.

The chosen competition solution will be the basis for the project documentation for the construction of the faculty building. The narrow competition area of the faculty is 1.57 ha, while the wider competition area of the external arrangement is about 4.67 ha.

ZVEZNA STREET RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBOURHOOD

The subject of the design competition:
JSS MOL - City of Ljubljana's Public Housing Fund is planning in the part of the city block between Šmartinska road, Flajšmanova road, Kavčičeva street and Pokopališka street in Ljubljana the construction of a larger number of non-profit rental flats, which will contribute to reducing the deficit of rental non-profit housing in the city. In the competition area it is planned to construct an approximate 94 non-profit rental flats, exterior and traffic arrangements and the construction of municipal infrastructure. The size of the competition area is about 10,000 m2. The planned total gross floor area of the objects above the ground level is up to 7,796 m2.

ERJAVČEVA MULTI-DWELLING BUILDING

Invited and open, two-stage design competition for selecting the most professionally appropriate solution for: ERJAVČEVA MULTI-DWELLING BUILDING

Subject of the design competition: The client plans to build a multi-dwelling building near Erjavečeva Street in Ljubljana. In the area in question the construction of a multi-dwelling building with a ground floor in public use, namely in the narrow competition area (ca 1600 m2 of gross floor area), and architectural landscape design for the competition area (ca 1500 m2 of floor area) are planned.

Access to the competition material: Access to the competition material is free of charge. The material can be downloaded from the website www.zaps.si via the password. The password can be obtained by the potential competitor by sending a request for access to the competition material to the ZAPS email address natecaji@zaps.si with mandatory annotation ERJAVČEVA DESIGN COMPETITION and with a signed statement on the protection of professional secrecy (Appendix STATEMENT - CONTEST MATERIAL).

ankaran cemetery

The aim of the competition is to obtain the most suitable urban, architectural and landscape architectural concept of the cemetery. The task deals with the placement of an intertwine of pietistic, sacral and recreational activities in the area on the outskirts of Ankaran. The subject of the planned arrangements is the design of the cemetery with a farewell building and a bell tower, the arrangement of open spaces next to the church, the design of a park forest, the design of internal connections in the area and the design of connection to the surroundings, including the design of a hinterland footpath and road access to the area.

The subject of the contest AS A WHOLE is the urban design of the placement and the architectural design of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Pharmacy buildings in the area marked EUP RD 358, within the framework of the University Center Brdo municipial detailed spatial plan (OPPN 65). The area under consideration is located in the western part of the city of Ljubljana, at the foot of Rožnik hill, on the west side of the Trail of Remembrance and Comradeship (PST).

University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (FS) and Faculty of Pharmacy (FFA) intend to finish the construction with the intended intervention in area of the new University center Brdo, where are already the Biotechnical Faculty (BF), Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology (FKKT) and Faculty of Computer and Information Science (FRI).

The new buildings of the two faculties, including the regulation of outer surfaces, should provide educators and students quality working conditions for study and research, cutting-edge, modern and technically faultless laboratory and other related facilities, and in general a stimulating university environment.

The area of the contest comprises areas on the west of the border between the Routes of Remembrance and Comradeship, in the north to the Glinšcica brook, in the south to the agricultural land adjacent to the drainage ditch and the east to the existing faculties (FKKT and FRI). According to the municipal spatial plan MOL the contest is launched for three of spatial planning units, namely RD-358 with the dedicated use of central education activities, RD-486, which is intended for the organization of park surfaces along the Trail of Remembrance and Comradeship and RD-555, representing the waterside belt of Glinšcica brook. Selected contest solution of 1st URBANISTIC PHASE will be the foundation for the preparation of the municipal detailed spatial plan of the Faculty OPPN 65 near the Faculty by biotechnology center. The contest area is around 4.30 ha, of which EUP RD-358 is around 3.67 ha.
